Ahead of the presentation of the BJP government’s first Budget in the Delhi Assembly in over 26 years, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place to offer prayers.
Expressing optimism for the city’s future, Gupta stated, “Bajrang Bali will do the best for Delhi. Delhi will progress, and Ram Rajya will be established.”
Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma called the Budget “historic” and assured that it would bring positive changes for the people of the national capital. Minister Kapil Mishra echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that it would be a “budget for the development of Delhi.”
The BJP-led Delhi government is set to present the Budget 2025-26, with CM Rekha Gupta, who also holds the Finance portfolio, leading the session. Unlike previous years when Cabinet meetings were held at the Assembly under former CM Arvind Kejriwal, Gupta’s government has shifted them to the Delhi Secretariat.
This Budget Session holds significance as it follows the 2025 Delhi Legislative Assembly election, which saw the BJP return to power after 27 years.
Meanwhile, on Monday, a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) was tabled in the Assembly, highlighting financial losses and operational inefficiencies. The report criticized the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for mismanagement in fleet maintenance, revenue generation, and overall sustainability.
With high expectations from the new government, all eyes are on the Budget 2025-26 and the roadmap it sets for Delhi’s development.
